Pro-life, pro-family Alaskans must enter political fray in 2020

On Jan. 21 the Alaska Legislature will convene in Juneau for what promises to be a dynamic and contentious legislative session. Before that, on Jan. 10, legislators will begin filing bills they hope to pass in 2020.

The Alaska Watchman will be tracking all measures related to pro-life legislation, religious liberty, parental rights, LGBT issues and much more. We aim to keep elected officials accountable for their votes this winter and spring (and maybe even through the summer) by informing Alaskans about key hearings, opportunities to participate in public testimony, and ways to contact your representatives.

Churches, civic groups and individual Alaskans can and must make their voices heard during the upcoming session.

There are literally tens of thousands of pro-life and pro-family Alaskans who believe that a strong society is founded on broad Judeo-Christian principles and the Natural Law. When governments abandon these pillars, societies suffer, the poor and most vulnerable are threatened and the state begins to erode basic human, parental and family rights.

Churches, civic groups and individual Alaskans can and must make their voices heard during the upcoming session. While our culture may suffer from a loss of moral clarity, there are still enough Alaskans to take a robust stand for the common good.

We urge you to share the Watchman coverage of the political contests in Juneau, and to proactively encourage friends and neighbors to engage in the public square.

We look forward to joining the fray. Stay tuned at
