Homeschool options: A list of all state-funded programs in Alaska

Alaska offers 30 public-homeschool programs for students across the state. These options provide parents with a roughly $2,000 educational allotment for each enrolled child. The money can be used to pay for books, materials, tutors and other educational activities.

Parents have freedom to choose or design curriculum that suits their educational philosophy and goals, including the option to have faith-based classes. Religious materials, however, cannot be purchased with state funds.

Homeschool parents are typically assigned to a teacher aid who works with the parent to ensure children are learning basic skills in reading, writing and math.

In addition to state-funded programs, Alaska also permits parents to teach independently of any government oversight or funding. To find our more information about independent homeschooling, click here.
